Luka suggested an escape room because his profile said he liked challenges. Sara agreed, thinking it might be more interesting than another coffee. Before starting, both claimed experience in similar rooms. In truth, Luka once watched a video, while Sara waited outside for friends who played. The first lock stayed shut long enough for their small assumptions to begin resembling a serious problem.

The room concerned an old traveler's missing collection. Maps hung on walls, papers filled drawers, and a screen counted down time. Luka lifted everything; Sara tried arranging objects sequentially. He thought she overthought, while she thought he didn't listen. Ten minutes into their first date, they already had an argument resembling a kitchen renovation after ten years of marriage.

The host's voice asked whether they wanted help. Both simultaneously said no, then looked at each other and laughed. Sara admitted having no idea what she was doing. Luka said he hadn't really played before either. It wasn't a major deception about their lives, but showed how quickly two people could waste time defending an image nobody requested. They asked for help and finally opened the first drawer.

Afterwards, they divided tasks without assuming one needed to lead. Sara noticed a connection between symbols; Luka found an object she overlooked three times. When stuck, they stated what confused them. They didn't finish on time. The host let them see the final section, and they left pleased despite a result unworthy of internet bragging.

Over coffee, they spoke more honestly than they might have if seated together immediately. Luka said he disliked long mountain hikes, although his photographs always suggested he lived on a summit. Sara admitted reading less than her profile suggested because after work she often preferred a foolish television series. They didn't mock each other. It felt pleasant to lower the advertisement and see what remained beneath.

Sara proposed the second date: an ordinary walk without puzzles. Luka agreed and added that he might mistake the street, asking her to send the meeting place. He arrived on time. On the bridge, they kissed slightly awkwardly without seeking a better angle. Later, they occasionally returned to escape rooms. They were never fastest, but learned early to say what also made life outside the game easier: "I need help here."
