Separate the action from its explanation
Choose one important decision. What did the character actually do, and how do they explain it? Find a sentence that supports your reading and consider whether another character sees the event differently.
Return to a small detail
An object, a message, or a seating arrangement can gain a different meaning by the end. Return to its first appearance. Did you overlook something, or did the narration deliberately leave you with less information?
Imagine the next conversation
You do not need to invent a happy ending. Imagine just the first sentence the characters might exchange after the final paragraph. Compare your idea with another reader and leave room for a different interpretation.
